Get ready To Travel Underwater With India’s First Bullet Train From Mumbai To Ahmedabad

By  |

Passengers will get the thrill of riding under the sea while travelling between Mumbai and Ahmedabad in the first of its kind bullet train of the country.

The nearly 500 km long, high speed route will have a 21 km long tunnel through the sea, said a senior Railway Ministry official.

The under-the-sea stretch will lie near the Thane creek towards Virar.

The bullet train is meant to connect Mumbai with Ahmedabad in about two hours with an average speed of 320 kilometres per hour.

This dream project would cost around ₹97,636 crores with 81 per cent of the funding loaned by Japan when the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe visited India in December, last year. The interest rate is just 0.1 per cent rate with repayment over 50 years and a moratorium for 15 years.

The loan agreement with Japan is likely to be signed by the end of the year and construction for this ambitious assignment will begin by the end of 2018.

Brace yourself for the underwater ride!
